Blood of my Blood
PROLOGUE
& First five chapters: 1 - 5
(Tommy boy)
I had woken up only about an hour ago I was finishing up in the bathroom. I'd heard my mom come in from work.
Finally! I said out loud,
'Hey, guys, we got Pizza!' I heard her yell. She grabbed me in a big hug and squeezed me and spun me around as she was hugging me.
Listen To him cackle ya'll! I gott'em now!’ I was laugh'n so hard, she told Sabrina to go get her sister because it was time for us to eat. Sabrina agreed and went to get Khloe. Mom asked my brother Jon to turn the tv off, so we could all eat pizza and talk like a family is supposed to. Mom hollered for the girls:
Sabrina, Khloe, come on girls; It's time to eat! SCREEEAAMM! It was Sabrina, ‘Mom! Mom! Mom!’ She cried!
‘Mom, it's Khloe! Mom!" It took my breath when I heard it! The high-pitched sound of a panic-stricken voice was enough to take my breath when I heard it!" It was awful, consumed with the sound of pure terror. It sounded like it came from one of Sabrina's horror movies. Jon shot up out of his chair!
‘What did she say?’ he asked; Mom reluctantly dropped her eyes to the floor. She bent her elbow and brought the back of her frail wrist to support her head. I saw the back of her shoulders start to bounce up and down, again and again. She then dropped down, to sit on the floor and then used her feet and legs to help slide her back up against the wall then she used her arms and elbows as a pillow to cover the tops of her knees. She started to rock back and forth. It seems like mom would have rushed in to see what Khloe was screaming about, but no, she wasn't moving, I know she didn't, but it almost was like mom already knew, somehow, that she didn't even have to go look.
I know that sounds crazy, but... And Jon almost made me fall as he hurled past me, and around mom to go back to Khloe's room where he then started hollering for Mom, she stayed glued to her position. I watched her tears make little splashes on the floor. It made me think of grandma's pond, in her back yard, the way it looks when the smallest rain droplets fall, barely bursting through the top of the pond's water, making that perfect tiny, tiny, plop; on top of the pond's surface, I've always liked to look at that pond at the very first stage of rain. Not this though, I can't stand to watch mom cry!
‘Come on mom,’ Sabrina said after she kneeled, and was helping mom to her feet, ‘
You have to face this,’ she told mom. She finished helping mom up and began to walk her down the hallway. Mom never expected, on her drive home, the horror that awaited her arrival. Never had she ever, thought of the future torment that would devourer her soul for the rest of her life.
(Chapter-one) "THE FIRST FIGHT"
There is my sister's, at it again! They aggravate me so much; I can hardly stand it anymore! It has been like this for so long, it seems Sabrina and Khloe are both my sisters, they are constantly bickering back and forth. Picking, pinching, screaming, and yapping all the time. It is like that old saying, I overheard Mom say, something about "Fingernails on a chalkboard,” because it’s aggravating. That reading makes so much sense to me with those two.
The two of them right now are arguing about who's make-up belongs to whom. If you ask me, neither one is old enough to be wearing make-up. They do get along well with each other on most days, well used to anyway. Now they are not so nice to each other, that's for sure. Usually, in the morning, they are fine. Sabrina even helps Khloe with her hair. I don't know what happens to the rest of the day!
Sometimes when they argue, they will hit each other and scream loud. "It's awful!"
They both have the same parent. I hear mom sometimes claiming that their dad is a "No luck criminal,” his name is Danny. He is a tall guy, he didn't have any hair, at all! I think it's funny because sometimes the sun shines off his head. His clothes are always loose. He wears thick glasses; they look kind of funny.
He always speaks in a deep, rough sounding voice. He has pictures all over his arms, even on his chest and belly too. He even has pictures on his neck. I don't know why some people are born with pictures on them.
"That's weird!" He always has a funny smell. He always has this gold watch on. He told me one time, that his dad gave it to him. It's very shiny. Sometimes the sun shines from it like his head; It makes me laugh.
I have a way older brother; his name is Jon... He's okay, I think sometimes he seems a little weird; but I think he's all right, he has a different daddy than me or my sisters. Jon is a big boy. He has messy black hair, he has red bumps on his face; and his hair smells, it's different from Danny. Danny smells like pinecones for some reason. Jon has a bad smell. He mostly sits on the couch and watches tv. His clothes are always messy; and sometimes they even look dirty! He always breathes heavy, especially whenever he talks. It's aggravating because he talks so slow. Jon has a different dad than we do. I've never seen him & I don't even know his name. Jon never speaks of him. Then there is my mom! The best mom in the world! Her name is Jessie. Sometimes people will call her Jessica. I really love her, but she Is hardly ever here. She is at work most of the time! She is very pretty. She has yellow hair, and she always makes it stand up in the back and then hang down. Her hair used to be a dark color but last year it started to turn different colors every week. I'm glad I'm not one of those people! My hair doesn't just change colors. Mom's skin reminds me of the sun, she always wore sandals, she usually had a ring on her toe, and a necklace on her leg. She paints her feet too. She has a gold bracelet like Danny's watch. I heard her tell her friend how she likes jewelry but can't afford it. She is still very pretty, even without a lot of jewelry. Mom's eyes are so blue, just like my sisters and mine are. Aunt Lydia always told mom she was too skinny. She usually has a half-shirt that shows her belly button. "Let go of your sister!" "Bump-Buthump-Boom!" "Aahha!" Mom and my sisters had all exploded out of the bathroom at the same time! Mom tried to get Khloe's hands untangled from Sabrina's hair. ‘Khloe let go of your sister! Khloe let loose!’ mom ordered but had no luck, finally Sabrina used an armlock of some kind on Khloe so that she would let loose. It looked like one of her Karate moves, Khloe got up and stomped back to her room. Sabrina's my oldest sister, she is almost bigger than my mom, not as skinny. She has pretty hair, usually she does, but at the time; it was all over the place, including inside Khloe's hands, but normally she wore it long. Sometimes she made her hair go in circles, it always looked nice, she wears tight jean shorts and pants that are way too short. She wears a lot of bracelets. Last night, they were fighting because Khloe broke two of them, Sabrina had said. Khloe is my youngest sister. She is also pretty. She is a lot smaller than Sabrina. She has yellow hair. It hangs down almost to her butt. Khloe talks in an incredibly quiet voice. We all have trouble hearing what she says sometimes. I heard mom telling grandma that Khloe was timid and shy. I'm not sure what that means. "I wonder if "being' shy", means somebody cries a lot?" Khloe is pretty. She doesn't agree, she says she is more like the ugly duckling. I don't know why, because I think
she's just fine. I like her hair. Usually, Sabrina helps her with it. Between the two, they usually can make it look good. If they don't kill each other first?
(Chapter-Two) "MY BEST FRIEND"
My sisters both go to school. I get start next year. I am looking forward to that. I want some friends to play with so bad! All that's around here is dang' farm animals to talk to. My favorite one is "Bingo, my mini horse. Mom let Khloe choose the name "Bingo". Mom helps me climb up and sit down, wrapping my legs over Bingo's back. Mom leads us around the yard. He is my favorite animal around here, I'm not even sure if a horse is considered a pet, I know I treat him like a pet, I talk to that short horse like a pet. and I love that Bingo-horse like a pet! He stays outside. A lot of times, I'll go out in the yard, then sit down or stand and pet him while we're talking. He doesn't say much but I know he's listening, I tell him about Mom working so much, how we hardly have time to play. I tell him about my sister's fighting all the time. I tell him how all our dads were "No good." I talk to him about pretty much everything. I even tell him stuff that nobody else knows. Things only I have seen! I don't like to think about some of it. He doesn't fetch or anything so I can't play with him like a dog. I come outside every day to talk to him. He doesn't bark or makes any kind of noise except a big snort here and there.
Sometimes he makes a loud sound, and he doesn't say it, but I know he loves me too. I swear I saw him wink at me one time! I tell him everything, that I would tell my buddy's if I had any at all, to tell.
(Chapter three) "CHICKEN GIRL"
All these animals here make no sense. I mean; we don't live on a farm or anything. Still, there are horses. There are hens and rabbits, we have ducks, babies, and mommies. There are so many cats at our house. It's simply crazy! They are nasty, not as bad as those rooster birds! "I don't think anything is as bad as those dang' chickens!" Our backyard is all grown up with weeds & tall grass everywhere. There are big appliances here and there throughout the yard. It's very messy. One thing I hate the most is that mom thought it would be a good idea to make the cats a place to stay inside so they wouldn't freeze to death in the winter; It seems she could have thought of something different though because all she did was drag one of those nasty chicken coops from the dirty outside, inside the house & put it in Khloe's room. She hated it! She always let mom know, too. That was another thing that Sebrina picked at and made fun of Khloe for. She would always call her "Chicken Girl.” I thought it was funny. I guess we all did at least one time or another. Which now I look back on it and it seems kind of mean. Khloe would get so mad! Khloe would always beg mom to make Sabrina stop with the teasing, Khloe had arguments with Mom like that. Sometimes my feelings get hurt for Khloe. I don't know why, but it happens here and there. I enjoy staying at my Grandma's best. It's not as messy, and it's also a lot more peaceful. If I could choose where I got to live, I'd surely pick Grandma's place!
(Chapter four) "GOT MILK?"
Tommy:
:I can't wait till' I get bigger, then I can go to school and make some friends. I have a lot of stories I could tell. Mostly about different things that happen around the house, so... I have a lot to talk about, so I should be able to make friends fast! "Darn it! I just remembered! I heard Mom telling Sabrina one time that, not everything that happens at this house, should c discussed outside of this house! I'm not sure what she meant and still don't, but I think she may have just been telling Sabrina that so nobody would find out about the sandwich bags. I think it will be okay because I don't even like sandwiches, so there would be no reason for me to talk about that. If I could have a new friend, I could probably tell him about what I saw three or two days ago in Sabrina's room. It was kind of creepy that day. I was in the kitchen looking through the dust-covered cabinets because the fridge was empty and cold looking. It had a half-empty bottle of Hershey's syrup on the top shelf with syrup stuck down all around the bottle with some spilled off onto the shelf. "It looked nasty!"
"Wait a minute!" I might be in luck! I found a box of cereal! It was down to the very bottom of the box, but still enough to make a small bowl. I think there also was some milk in the fridge beside the syrup! I quickly opened the fridge door! "Yes!" I saw a jug of milk. I was happy and excited because I didn't eat the night before. I snatched up the jug of cold milk. I already had gotten my spoon out. I had gone to pour some of that cold milk into my cereal, but no milk came out. It looked like frozen milk because it came out in clumps! I leaned down, and it smelled terrible. So, I just threw it into the already full sink. I know my new friends probably won't be very interested in that story; however, what I saw next just may. After throwing the bowl in anger, then I remembered! I have a Hershey bar in Sabrina's room. I love Hershey bars! I walked out of the kitchen through the living room, Jon, of course was sitting on the couch like always playing his new phone game. It seems that he would be out playing with people closer to his age. I hurry and bust into Sabrina's room to get my candy bar. I think I scared Sabrina because when I came in fast as I did, because she "kind of jumped," raised fast, papers spilled out onto the floor. Then I go the rest of the way in, she was picking them up. I saw the same ones before but never really paid them any mind.
She had picked all of them up but then, one slid back
out of her hand and she very quickly picked it up! Before she could get it up though, I saw drawing on it. I saw red on there for sure. I'm not good at my shapes yet so I'm not sure what shape it was I saw. I think it was a square inside a circle. She seemed very agitated and nervous after she finally got all her other papers back in her hands. I asked her what kind of papers those were, in her hand. She very meanly told me to mind my own business! She said that "I wouldn't understand!" How does she know what I can and cannot understand? I didn't care. I asked her if she had seen my Hersey bar. She pointed across the room and asked if that was the Hershey bar I was talking about. "Oh my God!" "Wait a minute;" I shrieked; the wrapper was pulled down. There was just half of the bar itself left. When I saw the candy was half gone, it felt like someone hit me in my stomach! Still, I thought that half was better than nothing, so I went to get it and saw it was dirty inside one of Mom's cigarette bowls! "I asked Sabrina "Why she ate my candy bar;" She said that mom did it, and she threw it in the ash-bowl! 'Of course, she did cc Tom. You know she doesn't care about anyone but herself,’ Sabrina said, with a smug smile. "You shut up Sabrina!" I shouted! Oh, she had me so mad! I know my mom loves me; but she does leave these ash-bowls here and there around the house sometimes. I hate it! I can't believe she ate half my candy bar and threw the rest away." Mom must have been hungry and just in a hurry. I would have shared it with her.
(Chapter five) "PET CEMETARY"
The next day came. I'd fallen asleep on the couch the night before. Mom rudely awakened me when she came rushing out of her room into the living room while fastening her chest strap as she walked. "Jon What is it?" She asked; Jon had called her name! “Mom, look!” He had a shovel with a dead cat on it. Jon, being as clumsy as he is, almost let the cat roll off the blade, but he lowered it and then picked it up quick, to secure the load. That would have been a good save, but as he finished halting, and begin raising the shovel back up, the cat stayed on the blade, but its head fell off and hit the floor and rolled into the dog's food dish. The cat's head must have been all but off anyway.
Khloe screamed out: “Charles!” It was ‘Charles the cat!’ It was one of the first cats that came to stay with us, a year or two ago. Jon flinched when Khloe screamed. He almost dropped the rest of the cat on the floor. "What in the world?" This scared me big time! Khloe screamed! Sabrina looked shocked and confused; Jon was just looking down as he stood laughing at Charles. I didn't see what was so funny. “Where did that come from?” mom asked. “Jon what did you do?” she demanded! Jon returned: “I didn't do nothing mom! I liked Charles!” he said. “Yea I bet!” snapped Mom. “I don't think Jon did anything to Charlie Cat mom”, I told her. Sabrina said that dog next door did it. Mom asked her why she didn't tell her when she had seen it. Sabrina said that she didn't see it, but that ‘that's what probably happen.’ Mom asked Jon where he found him at. Jon said, ‘Mom, he was over there beside that shed! His body was halfway sticking out of the ground,” Jon replied. “Your Serious?” Mom questioned. “Yes, Mom!” She told Jon' to take it outside and bury it. Sabrina cut her eyes, with what almost looked like the start of a smile. She always laughs at Jon for being stupid. He left back out the door with the cat. Sabrina jumped up and stormed to her room. She seemed very upset! I know how she felt about Charles. She always played with him the most. Mom pulled on her hair! “I swear sometimes I think I'm losing my mind!” she cringed. She told me to get ready, that I was going with her. She was going to pay bills. I didn't want to go, but I knew not to even ask her, mom doesn't like me staying at home alone with Jon.
